The universe is always a very Kind place.

It’s never a nice nor a cruel place.

Niceness and cruelty are human created constructs based on how a person interacts to the world relative to their inner stories. Inner stories are never truly perfect representations of the world, so care must be taken in how you inter-relate with stories.

Discover Kindness is to stay simply in tune to your essence so you don’t get twisted around stories that can be broken and cruel or limited and nice.

Niceness comes out from a person giving something extra. The only trouble is many times what we give in niceness isn’t needed by those receiving the action OR we give away too much of our own essence to diminish ourselves.

Cruelty is when taking away from some else’s essence. To take away from another, cuts away from your own soul.

Nice and Cruel are reflections of each other.

The reflection to kindness is rudeness. Rudeness is when you disrespect another’s essence.

As a human, to live kindly is a process of reflection and awareness, since it requires a constant readjustment of all the personal inner stories we wear over our hidden essence.

Once you begin to strip away the stories worn, it becomes easier to be kind. Since it then becomes possible to “see/feel” your inner essence.

But it’s not practical to strip away all of our stories , since we are human, being based upon our stories. Rather in awareness release the stories which are cruel.

In the west people tend to first relate to Buddhism, so understand:

In Buddhism the process is to release everything to achieve Nirvana.

So in Buddhism: Seekers practice releasing suffering which really translates to releasing all attachments to your stories.

But we are Taoist’s here

In Taoism, the goal is to embrace fully the essence and to explore our possibilities.

So in Awakening Dragon Taoism : We release ungraceful stories, any story which are “rude” to the essence. Taoist’s embrace (live) the stories which their essence decides as being the beautiful stories to explore in the dance of life, before releasing back into the fullness of being one with the universe.

So when I talk with others, my path is to help teach people, how to be themselves: assisting in perspective to reveal which stories match to their essence, to make their own as true, fully in this process.

The framework of Taoism is not a definition of a destination. Rather Taoism contains many simple tools: compassion, kindness, modesty, awareness that allows us each to discover our own destiny based on the story we weave, one day at a time.

Namaste

In Taoism, we define a human as:

A Living Being capable of holding their own story.

Our essence, is our spark of life that explores one story to the next. Wearing a story as clothing: to interact with the world. This is very important, since in Taoism we teach how to embrace one’s story fully and gracefully.

But its also important for another reason.

We are our essence, not our stories.

Humans often make the mistake to think they are the clothing being worn or more literally the case than people realize: the story held around our essence. This is not true. The stories we hold to are merely the vehicles to explore life thru.

Since humans are a story by nature, it means we enjoy listening and learning from stories also.

In fact ego and the role of ego is to keep the spirit within a story it’s currently wearing. All too often a consequence of being human is to loose ourselves in our stories, or even worse having ego trap us into stories that no longer serve a graceful purpose.

Some day I will write a book on this topic. It would be a very fitting topic to write a book about actually.

But let me leave you here with this thought.

If to be human is to explore our stories.

How much time do you spend listening and following stories told by others, or sold to you by the culture you live within? Rather than taking the time to truly and fully live to your own story fully?

Sadly, too many souls lose freedom chasing stories which don’t serve the heart any more.

If you feel trapped, if you feel powerless, if you feel our culture is out of control.

THEN

Discover freedom and power is to live your own story.

Sincerely
Casey

The future looks bleak to many people where around the world there is a push to erode individual rights and freedoms.

I am getting asked now, how to work against this?
How would a Taoist react to this?

I am seeing many people living in despair, acting in despair and as a result losing their power in despair.

First: despair is an unstable diminishing place of spirit. To act in despair will limit and undercut all your future actions to failure.

This means learning to release despair, since despair is dis-empowering.

In part, one way to counteract despair is by living with awareness in the now rather than the future. The capacity to step ahead base on smaller personal plans rather than doing nothing because you don’t believe there is hope.

Secondly: Learn to how to counteract conflict and judgement with personal inner strength.

The end result is this:

Be strong in who you are, be kind in who you are…

So that other’s cannot question your nature.

This type of personal faith, as shown by Jesus, Martin Luther king, Gandhi and others.. Cannot be undercut by other’s judgement, nor can it be diminished by despair.

Everyone can do this, its part of the Taoist teachings. It requires modesty so you cannot be corrupted by power, it requires non-judgement, so you can release other people’s judgement and in that release conflict. It requires kindness so that you dont give up your own essence but stand strong in it. Kindness means to give to both yourself and others *Equally*.

You can make a difference in your life with simple modifications, that actually 100% counteract and prevent the current larger world despair from undercutting your life.

It’s a simple way to live that takes years on how you apply it to your life. This isn’t something you can do all at once. So take time to begin practicing it in simple steps. Those simple steps will then refine and recreate your life in amazing ways.

While I do teach people how to do this, you can also do this on your own with your own style and flair. There isn’t a single best way to apply these teachings.

The real question then becomes are you ready to simplify down to truly living your life, rather than acting out to the projections of others?

The time to make a difference isn’t 5 years from now, or 10 years ago.

The time to make a difference is in your life presently.

HOW?

Again, in working towards what and how you want to live in simple steps.

You see over and over again I will remind you of this, since, it is the easiest way to change the world completely 5 years from now, if we all begin to do this, and begin to take care of ourselves. This is the evolution that replaces both revolution and social issues people feel trapped by currently.

Ironically if we all begin to take care of ourselves, that is a movement that coordinates and shifts an entire global culture.

If you dont get this.. or can’t see the small step that best fits. turns out you dont have to optimize each small step up front.

Rather, taking a small step itself will lead to the optimal steps 3 or 7 steps out from your first step. Try it.

If you are nervous about taking that first step, then call me, I hold the hand of many such people in making these steps.

Trust me, you can do this, I know, I have help thousands do it already, so I have all the proof I need to know it works.

All you need is the faith to start taking a single step ahead.

Namaste
Casey

A wise dog once told me:

A wise cat once told me

It’s not catching your tail that matters, it’s how you enjoy the motion and chase of the tail that teaches you balance and timing so you can catch the bird later.

Awakening Dragon is about how to live gracefully.

So this means

Using ideals found in Taoism as the baseline on how to approach a day. Kindness, compassion, modesty, non judgement (striving not to be first), pu, wu wei, open awareness, working with our stories etc

The actual framework & core for Awakening Dragon Taoism is to let each person strive and use their essence (our heart) as the guiding principle for their life. Awakening Dragon Taoism is geared to give tools, community and ideals to assist each person grow with their heart.

This is confusing since in many religions people think there is a common single core practice that has to be met or held, as a common belief or set of actions or way to see things. This isn’t the case in awakening dragon. The common core is we respect each person’s essence, including our own essence.

Coming together as a collective of teachers (since we all have something to offer). Non judgement is critical for this. Since with judgement people force their teachings on each other. Using non judgement, means teachings become “mixed plate” in nature and people can pick and choose freely from what we each have to offer, without feeling disappointed or feeling like there is something to prove in teaching.

Offering side practices such as Qi Gong, Meditation and other practices.

The practices in many religions are confused to be the religion itself. This is not the case, rather practices exist to support each practitioner have healthy lives. To support the heart/core essence to continue to grow. Since spirit represents the Movement of life. it means these practice are often considered to spiritual practices because they focus on helping a person move more gracefully thru life.

Using modern terms to better work with older terms. For instance I re-translate “Striving not to be first” to be ” Non Judgement”, OR Being a “true human” as being “working with our stories”

I am honored to be working with everyone here in the Awakening Dragon Community to explore life and watch it evolve as a framework for growth, as a community and helping each other explore our lives.

The reason I write this is to help clarify what Awakening Dragon Taoism is as Taoism grows in the west. You see there is going to be confusion about Taoism since Taoism is changing and evolving. Here is a wonderful article talking about Taoism in Hawaii as an example

Taoism in Hawaii

This article is an excellent example of how Taoism is evolving. It also shows the differences between Taoism as integrated into Chinese culture compared to how Taoism gets practice in new places outside of China. For instance how I teach Taoism is without the Chinese Cultural aspects on purpose. I have done this since the west isn’t China. Taoism is changing and evolving to fit into new cultures and in that we will get new variations of Taoism. In that we do get to pick and choose and take the best of what Taoism has to offer to use to help live a more graceful life.

While I try not to be new age, the article is right there are many new age off shoots and some will consider what I am doing as new age. No worries one way or the other on that. But it also explains why I am putting together awakening dragon more slowly and trying not to get too out there or vocal about it. Things become new age, when you push it too fast that it grows beyond the words that others can easily connect to. As a result, we are growing Awakening Dragon Taoism slowly and modestly, to Taoist ideals so it doesn’t lose it’s core ideals. Awakening Dragon has been growing slowly for over 14 years and it will continue to slowly evolve for decades to come.

Patience is a guiding principle within Awakening Dragon Taoism. We are not in a rush to get to any one destination fast, because the destination is to live our lives fully. The process of growing Awakening Dragon out gracefully, is part of the fun of being a practitioner in Awakening Dragon. We all shape it equally, patiently and with our hearts. It’s a very democratic philosophy/religion: not in voting but by our actions shaping it as a community and yet encouraging each person to be freely themselves.

I started awakening dragon with various baselines from Taoism, but the cultural aspects are added in later by how we practice and explore it. It gets added in by everyone over time, a pinch here and a pinch there as people figure out bits that work for their life. It’s a dynamic process you can’t out think or write down on paper, but rather live in our collective actions.

I have lived my entire life to Taoist ideals and I have lived in the west. I have had to adapt and use the best of what Taoism has to offer and use to it live a graceful and amazing life. I started to teach this because other people started coming to me to get help. Over time the teachings grew and became optimize to work even better. From there it has continue to grow into Awakening Dragon Taoism and a new community itself.

It is a step at a time, learning how to live to our essence and for us that is our Taoist practice.

The times are great, events are shifting around the world and what is happening is happening: because people are being people. But understand your tempo of life doesn’t have to be dictated by outside problems. We use those problems, take that energy to add to our life, and then in grace add our own choices and actions to top it all off in order to be in control of our own life and destiny.

In this we flip the day rather than being flipped into accident victims.

Understand and accept these are great times… how the terms good and bad gets applied in front of that term great… is actually based on your free will and choice of actions of how to shift your own actions.

These are the greatest of times if you live as such!

It is such times indeed.

Make it so.

I was asked today for advice or a book on how to help a person to work through transformation.

The first interesting thing in the question was the person didn’t tell me anything about their own transformation at hand. Often times when a person calls out for help, they are so shaken by the process of transformation, they cannot even think in a logical manner any more. This is natural as transformation isn’t a logical process often times. It is a jumping off of life’s path or tracks into a totally new place. It’s a very dis-orientating situation.

The second interesting thing was the hope of there being a simple book to use in guidance.

What is important to understand in transformation is this:

Each person is their own puzzle, it isn’t as if there is a single book that will inspire you in proper manner. I work with each person very differently to help them cross thru many different angles of the process, in order to help them best find a path that matches to their spirit and heart.

For example I wrote “A Personal Tao” book to share in part my journey in transformation and to help others, so I wrote it in a generalized manner, but even in this… it wont perfectly be a guide for the masses, but only those in a similar place of mind and situation that I was in at that time.

Understand that in transformation it’s a very personal process, (hence Personal Tao).

While guides like myself exist, you also must learn how to refine your own awareness of life around you.

In this trust to your own smile, learn how to release judgement, to open up the options that best match to your spirit. The process isn’t an easy one since it requires a person to test their own boundaries and initiate growth. This is always a hard process for any person. People seek books and resources to make that easier, but those very same resources limit you to another person’s path also. You can get clues from such materials but in the end it’s about making the journey your own also.

Transformation is always a personal process. When finding guides or resources to help you, make sure that they respect your heart and nature. This is most especially true in books which contain static and fix states of mind. As powerful as any book can be, in the end all books are still limited, by (1) how they were written, and (2) by how you the reader judges it.

Since transformation is about jumping your tracks in life, these two factors are the limiting aspects of any book. While, a smile and an open heart are always limitless in the opportunities that you can find in any moment you are within.

The first step is then this: trust to the smile and open heart, then be aware that all around you: from, books, events, actions, people are the tidbits you need to assemble your own take-off and path for your transformation at hand.

Namaste

Graceful Holidays to Everyone,

Acceptance for all
may awareness guide us this holiday
in bringing fulfillment to our essence.

2012 year is an important year, a year to become more. Let us together in awareness, help each other move with grace in how we make it our own.

Happy, what is happy all about? In the chase for happy, people often get sad..

Peace what is peace all about? in the enforcement of peace people often create conflict.

So I reworded this Holiday greetings to be a bit more Taoist in heart.

Learn how to reword life’s greetings so that you open the way for deeper and more honest exploration of life and then in reflection the following relationships with others also opens up. If you just reuse the same old greetings, you then only live the same old stories.

sincerely
Casey, Julie and Mina from Personal Tao.

Without fear , it becomes amazing what one can accomplish.

What is fear then, that it limits a person so?

Fear is a judgement that a negative potential is about to become real.

That’s the trick of fear… it isn’t real in itself. Fear is all about negative potentials and that potential is never real until it’s pushed into reality. If one focuses fear to that negative potential, often times, the fear is the connection required to make the negative potential real.

So in being fearless, you side step around negative potentials. That is very powerful. The only thing is in being fearless you also must not be reckless.

Fearlessness must always be paired with awareness.

Since many people have turned off their awareness, they in turn let their fears compensate for the lack of awareness. That is a sad and limited life indeed.

We move thru potentials, every choice we make, builds up potential or unlocks a potential to become real.

People choose by their actions what will and will not happen. to let fear guide a path, will mean avoiding or missing many opportunities also. If you let awareness guide your path, then it is possible to explore, assess and determine which potentials are the ones most graceful to embrace and how to navigate successfully around any negative results.

Since it’s impossible to avoid all negative impacts we also teach in Taoism to learn from everything including our actions that do stir up negative results. So any step into negative potential continue to build up positive potential for later use.

This simply means living to fear limits our lives and living with awareness it’s possible to make the most of our lives.

Namaste
