“There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story.”
? Frank Herbert
“It is always important to know when something has reached its end. Closing circles, shutting doors, finishing chapters, it doesn’t matter what we call it; what matters is to leave in the past those moments in life that are over.”
? Paulo Coelho
Lets Look Beyond Endings
So in this closing lets open a beginning. A friend wrote to me:
I’m hoping the new year will be…
Hope seemingly gets entangled into our endings and beginnings. We strive with hope to an ending we envision, we hold hope for inspiration of a good start ahead. Yet hope on its own changes nothing.
There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth… not going all the way, and not starting. -Buddha
Hope shouldn’t be entangle with either the beginning or the ending. The true secret of hope is that it always should then be focused into a next step within the now. A next step to inspire a breath or action to live against rather than to stare towards.
“As long as I am breathing, in my eyes, I am just beginning.”
? Criss Jami, Killosophy
Hope on its own changes nothing, as hope itself contains no action. Rather hope is there to inspire an action. Without an action to follow hope, a person gets stranded at the end of the last story they came out of… To reach a destination it takes a start of just the smallest of actions. To set up an action we use the smallest of pauses to make a difference. A difference is what we seek, so you must plant a seed of an action within the pause of now for a difference to occur. Surprisingly, a good deep breath is a great place of pause to work from as it is also an action… Even a breath is enough of an action to start a seed, a step ahead into a new and more complete life for yourself.
We make life and solutions to be complicated: since as a person, we have the ability to see into the future.. we see everything that should be happening and so… all the future sight… often becomes just paralysis. Because it’s impossible to apply all that action we can see happening over years of desires to be within a single moment…
People tend to want all the steps laid out and then be pushed into each step. As if muses were to be called upon to pitch fork us forward into our inspiration. Taoist practice wont lay out a plan nor push you into a step. Instead Taoism shows you how be true to your essence and how to have the strength to step ahead one step at a time into your own future. The Taoist approach isn’t for everyone. But the Taoist approach is pretty simple.
- Don’t worry about the details
- Take a moment to smile 🙂
- Pause, examine the possibilities.. not in futures you desire… but rather within a moment of pause to be yourself… It’s within that pause…That options of steps become visible.
- Take the step which most naturally matches to heart / to essence.
- Yet never forgetting your breath / focus when needing a break. Since to breathe is to be at one with yourself. Each breath will prime you up to take the next step ahead.
I wish for you
An inner peace in any given moment and
A solid edge to always climb against
As you move ahead in your stories.
From start to finish to start again.
