Ten thousand bricks…
Life is ten thousand bricks
At times, it’s all in a big pile. Daunting & taunting one into doing nothing.
At times you manage to place them all as a house to live in.
With nice fluffy brick flowers
And a nice bricky wife and kids.
At times you are in a nightmare
juggling them all.
Worse at times, you are Sisyphus
lugging it all up the mountain.
At times you let them all fall down.
At times you only pick up a single brick
to start building something new.
Ten thousand bricks, ten thousand bricks…
A life is ten thousand bricks.
Never think it as bad nor good.
Judgment isn’t helpful.
Judgment only builds a prison out of those bricks…
I am building again.
Looking about to notice
roughly 4003 bricks down
at my mid point of life.
Taking a slight break and pondering,
With a few bricks in hand
pondering, pondering next steps yet again.
Is it time to tear it down?
Is it time to continue?
Is it time for a cosmic asteroid smack down
knocking it all about
for me to restart again?
Or is it time to add something unexpected?
We will see.
This is art, this is my life, playing with these ten thousand bricks.
What matters is how I enjoy playing with them
What gets built will come and go
But I will always be here
Amongst the bricks.
People who work with me, know the deeper project I am working towards. Understand, I am using my bricks to create a framework to teach and show kindness.
I ask each of you to ponder and think for a few minutes. What are your next steps as you pitch in and add in a few bricks here and there to build something special?
10,000 bricks are used to build a life,
but 100 people mixing together bricks and time and heart:
starts building a community.
Then when we begin helping communities share, we start building a new world.
Your bricks are not insignificant.
